What is Fue Hair Transplantation?
Hair loss, known as an important problem for both men and women, can be seen in many societies. Today, people with hair loss resort to various methods to remove this image. FUE hair transplantation, which is one of the most frequently used techniques for hair transplantation, is an easier method than surgical procedures.
How is FUE Hair Transplantation Performed?
In order to be able to process with this technique, the existing hair of the patient is checked first. Before removing the follicles required for
hair transplantation, the hair in the donor area is shortened to 1mm in length. Afterwards, in order for the procedure to be more comfortable,
the area to be transplanted and the donor area from which the hair will be taken are anesthetized with local anesthesia. Today, devices are used in hair transplantation procedures, which both shorten the procedure time and prevent damage to the follicular
unit taken as a donor. These devices remove the hair follicle and the microscopic tissue surrounding it from the skin in accordance
with the exit angle of the hair. The collected follicular units are placed in small holes in the area where hair transplantation will be performed.
What is a graft?
It is useful to explain the word “graft”, which is often mentioned when talking about hair transplantation procedures. The graft, which contains skin and hair roots, is taken from the donor area and transferred to the area to be transplanted, and it is a tissue
containing 1 to 4 hair follicles. The number of hair follicles is determined by the rate of skin in the graft.
Features and Results of FUE Hair Transplantation Treatment
In the procedures performed with this technique, no incisions or sutures are left in the donor area, that is, in the area where the hair follicles are
collected. Abrasions smaller than 0.6 or 0.7 millimeters that occur where the roots are taken heal within a few days without leaving a trace. With the grafts taken from the nape area, transplantation can be performed in eyebrows, mustaches or beards when necessary. One of the issues that patients are most curious about is how many grafts will be transplanted in one session. Although this number
varies depending on the number of roots in the area used as a donor, it is possible to collect between 4,000 and 6,000 grafts in one session.
Since there is an average of 2 to 2.5 hairs in each graft, 50 to 60 hair follicles per square centimeter can be transplanted. The transplanted hair sheds at the end of the first month, but after 2 or 3 months it starts to grow and grow. Full results start to be seen after 6 months. By the 6th month, the hair that becomes fuller takes its final shape by completing the adaptation process in an average of 1-1.5 years. Since the hair is the person’s own hair, it grows in the same color and character. In order for the hair transplant to be successful, it should be done by a knowledgeable and experienced doctor and professional team, because the
direction of the transplanted hair and the amount of hair taken from the donor area are very important.
